Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme Eligibility
The Central Government has promised to pay a Rs 2.5 lakh incentive for each inter-caste marriage in which a dalit takes part. Prior to this decision, this scheme was intended for couples with an annual income of less than Rs. 5 lakh per annum. However, in order to encourage inter-caste marriages , including those of dalits, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has decided to make the plan available to anyone, regardless of income. According to the latest revisions to the scheme, couples who have married in the other caste, one of whom is a dalit, can receive a one-time incentive of Rs 2.5 lakh. Also, many states have similar schemes without a limit on income.
